Welcome to the Disc Golf Club of Albany's web site. The DGCA was founded in 2003 by five members with the following goals: to promote completive disc golf in our community; create and maintain disc golf courses in the central Willamette valley; and create an inclusive, safe, and fair disc golf community. To these ends we continue to work on projects that we started in 2003.
The club produces the Simpson Summer Sling every year in June or July. This is our large tournament for the year. The Simpson Summer Sling is a PDGA sanctioned "B-Tier" two-day tournament produced with our partner the Oregon Series. 2006 saw our tournament break new ground. There were just over 130 participants playing on two courses, 18 hole course at Bryant Park and a redesigned 18 hole course at Timber Linn park. We had a junior tournament on the weekend prior to the Simpson Summer Sling. The club is always looking for ways to improve our tournaments. If you have any ideas or constructive feedback please e-mail Brandon Hill. We have already started planning next year's event. So keep an eye on the tournament page for updates.
Jon Owens and Scott Duvaul have taken the lead on course design and maintenance at Simpson course. They have been working countless hours making the second goal of the club a reality. The transformation has been nothing but amazing, they have literally carved a course through the blackberries and undergrowth. The course has 13 tones (seven metal and the rest PVC). The club is actively working on getting baskets for this course; any fundraiser ideas or donations would be appreciated.
